Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know user’s perception towards OPAC use as a user’s tool of comunication to the librarian at the library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The research employs a descriptive method, the subjects is the user s of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and the object is the perception towards OPAC use as a user’s tool of comunication to the librarian. Population of the research is all mamber of the library numbering at 40.220 people. Samples taken from the population based on Yamane formula, at 100persons with the accidental sampling method. The variabel is the use of OPAC at the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The method and technique used in data collection methods of questionnaire, observation, interview and documentation. The data were analysed by using a quantitative deskriptive approach. Measuring the use on Likert (4-1), who interpretation of the results to be very good, good, poor and very poor. The results showed that the perception towards OPAC use as a user’s tool of comunication to the librarian at the library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is good and has met the needs of users with averagevalue of 2.83. Based on this, it is recommended to the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta to pay attention of suggest from users forwards library.
