Abstract

The effectiveness of the state of how a destination can provide useful results as expected. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the "Pikiran Pembaca" as a public service space on the Kedaulatan Rakyat daily newspaper. The results of this study is expected to increase the knowledge and insight into the field of science communication, especially within the scope of the Public Relations with respect to the effectiveness of public service space. This research is qualitative. The data was collected using in-depth interviews and documentation. Data analysis using descriptive-qualitative method is illustrated with an analysis of words or phrases separated by category to get a conclusion. To check the validity of the data, the authors use a triangulation of sources. The results of this study indicate the effectiveness of the " Pikiran Pembaca" Kedaulatan Rakyat in accordance with the criteria of the effectiveness model in the time dimension model of Multiple Constituency approach which include production, quality, flexibility, efficiency, satisfaction, competition, development, and survival. Accordingly, the conclusion that the sender "Pikiran Pembaca" gained a lot of advantages given to the use of such media and their impact is very satisfactory in accordance with community expectations. Some of the gains in addition to obtaining a fast response, the column is also very affordable because it is free and easy terms. Some of these advantages make the user space and still choose to believe in "Pikiran Pembaca" as a very appropriate space. Based on the analysis of Uses and Gratifications theory, which made the use of media is influenced by the motives and effects provided by the "Pikiran Pembaca" Kedaulatan Rakyat, so that people continue to make the right choice until the time will come.
