Abstract
Al Ghazali disebut juga Hujjatul Islam dalam karya terbesarnya Ihya’ ‘Ulumuddin, selain mengulas tentang ajaran tasawuf juga mengulas tentang keutamaan ilmu, guru, murid, tata kesopanan menjadi guru, tata kesopanan murid, tugas-tugas murid, tugas guru ndan sebagainya. Dari sini tampak bahwa di samping sebagai teolog, filosof, kritikus, sufi, Al Ghazali juga seorang ahli pendidikan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan (library research) yang pengumpulan datanya bersumber dari data primer dan sekunder. Untuk analisa datanya menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis dengan teknik diduktif analitik dan cara berfikir induktif dan deduktif. Bahwa konsep guru dan siswa ideal menurut Al Ghazali yng tertulis dalam kitab Ihya’ ‘Ulumuddin, secara fungsional masih dapat digunakan dalam dunia pendidikan sekarang ini, karena secara kualitas konsep tersebut masih tetap relevan dengan konsep-konsep para ahli pendidikan sekarang ini dan bisa dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif untuk memecahkan masalah-masalah pendidika di Indonesia dewasa ini.
