Abstract
The purpose of this research is to describe the influence of user education to the user’s ability of information retrieval in MTs Negeri Yogyakarta II Library. The population in this research were eighth grade students totaling 229 people. The samples in this research were 70 students who were randomly selected using Slovin formula. The methods of data collection in this research used a questionnaire as the main instrument, interviews, and documentation. The technique of data analysis in this research used simple regression analysis. The results of this research concluded that there is an influence between the user education and the user’s ability of information retrieval in MTs Negeri Yogyakarta II Library. Based on the coefficient determination’s value (R square) the influence of user education to the user’s ability of information retrieval in MTs Negeri Yogyakarta II Library is 38,3% which is 61,7% were influenced by other factors. The suggestion that can be recommended for MTs Negeri Yogyakarta II Library is the need for an evaluation on the implementation of user education each year for the purpose of the this program can be achieved optimally.
