Abstract

This research aims to find out: (1) the influence of the learning model of SAVI with Accelerated Learning approach to high-level thinking skills of students in the material of optical instruments. (2) the increase in high-level thinking skills of students who take of SAVI model of learning using Accelerated Learning approach in the material optical instruments. (3) The effectiveness of the learning model of SAVI with Accelerated Learning approach towards the achievement of high level thinking skills of students in material of optical instruments. The type of this research is a Quasi-Experiment with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The variables in this research are the independent and dependent variable. The independent variable such as SAVI models with Accelerated Learning approach while the dependent variable is the high-level thinking skills. The population in this research is the students of the 10 grade of SMA Kebakkramat Academic Year of 2013/2014. The samples are the X4 and x8. X4 class as the control class and X8 class as an experiment class. The instrument used in this research is a high-level thinking skills test. The data analysis techniques are using the different test average and Normalized Gain (N-Gain). The result shows that (1) there is a positive effect between learning models of SAVI with Accelerated Learning approach to high-level thinking skills than the students learning of discussion on the material of optical instruments (Asymp.Sig value. (1-tailed) = 0.000 <a = 0.05, then Ha is accepted and the average score of the experimental classes (40.72) higher than the average score of the control class (32.22). (2) The differences of the increase in high-level thinking skills of students who take the learning model of SAVI with Accelerated Learning approach is quite significant than the discussion of learning material optical instruments. (The test results of the effect size is 0.69 (the improvement is significant). (3) The learning model of SAVI with Accelerated Learning approach is more effective than learning a discussion of the high-level thinking skills of students (Asymp.Sig value. (1-tailed) = 0.000, a = 0.05).
