Abstract

This research aims to determine the capability level of infomation literacy of DI Yogyakarta PKBI (Perkumpulan Keluarga Berencana Indonesia) volunteers (reviewed using standard Empowering 8TM Model). It is used single variable, namely the literacy infomation capability of DI Yogyakarta PKBI volunteers. Data collection using the questionnaire as the primary method, while the observations, interviews, and documentation, those methods are to complete the research data. Population taken are from DI Yogyakarta PKBI volunteers which is still active on 2013-2014. This research is a population research, because the population in this research was 31 respondents, so that the whole population used as the sample. The analysis used in this research is descriptive quantitative. And the variable literacy information skills of DI Yogyakarta PKBI volunteers translated into 8 sub-variable according 8TM Empowering standard used in this research, namely the identification, exploration, selection, organization, creation, presentation, assessment, and implementation. Based on the results of quantitative descriptive analysis using the formulas Mean, on the identification of the variables obtained sub everage value 3,73, exploration gained an everage value 3,5, the selection obtained everage value 3,38,the organization obtained everage value 3,43, the creation obtained everage value 3,52, presentation obtained everage value 3,37, assesment obtained everage value 3,56, and application obtained everage value 3,58. From the result of the analisys on the variable sub 8, then it can be concluded that the information literacy skills of PKBI DI Yogyakarta volunteers categorized very well. It is recommended to use a model of literacy information to introduce the importance of literacy information to every volunteers as a lifelong learning process.
