Abstract

Have be done the research with Cr adsorption of activated natural zeolite sulfuric acid. This research aims to develop materials as adsorbents of heavy metals, especially Cr. The solid at natural zeolite and activated natural zeolite were characterized using FTIR, XRD and SAA. The process parameters used equilibrium adsorption, adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics includes the initial concentration variation 10, 30, 50, 70 ppm, contact time 3, 4, 5, 6 hours and a temperature of 30, 40, 50, 60 ° C. Sample solution is already in adsorp analyzed using AAS. The results showed that the natural zeolite clinoptilolite type natural zeolite activated while a type mordenite. Acid activation causes dealumination or reduction of Al in the zeolite framework and increase the surface area of zeolite. The results showed the natural zeolite adsorption isotherm followed Freundlich models, following the reaction kinetics model of Pseudo Order 1 and has a Gibbs energy is negative, whereas in activated natural zeolite adsorption isotherm followed Freundlich models, following the reaction kinetics model of Pseudo Order 2 and has a Gibbs energy is positive . Keywords: natural zeolite, dealumination, Freundlich isotherm, Pseudo Order 1, Pseudo Order 2, Gibbs energy
