Abstract

Pengguron in Cirebon has been there before Sharif Hidayatullah or Sunan Gunung Jati was born in 1448 AD. Pengguron establishment in Cirebon originated from the arrival of Sheikh Hasanuddin, of Mecca in 1418 AD (Anno Domini), Sheik Nurjati of Baghdad in 1420 AD, Walangsungsang in 1423 AD, his sister Rara Santang in 1426 AD, (Sharif Hidayatullah‟s mother) and Kian Santang from Pajajaran in 1428 AD settled in Grage (Negarae Wong Gede) Cirebon. Pengguron is a place of medieval Islamic education has a special indicator. These elements include Tajug, the script writing, Muruk (teaching) the Koran, Students, beat-bai‟at (allegiance), Rama Master (professor) and Witana / palace. This study tried to trace the background of the appearance of Pengguron Sunan Gunung Jati and Pengguron Sunan Gunung Jati characteristics, Pengguron Sunan Gunung Jati role in education and social policy in the lives of Muslims in the 15-16 century. And The Discourses, Machiavelli says religion makes people become obedient. Religion is a tool that is needed to maintain a civilized country and has created glory. To the authorities in order to maintain the religious rites and worship always perform as well as possible. There are two kinds of thariqat syathariyah theories, Ratu Raja Fatimah Syathariyah and Muhammadiyah syathariyah. The text of those Ratu Raja Fatimah Syathariyah and Muhammadiyah Syathariyah include: the parentage of Syathariyah thariqat, circumcision prayers, circumcision fasthing, witir (optional prayers), preyers pupils categories, and religious principles (faith, Islam, good deeds, and particularities). The method of the study, conducted through five steps: First, Historical Methods of heuristics is preliminary research and resource gathering continued field research libraries. External criticism is a way to verify or test the aspects of the "outside" of the historical sources, whereas internal criticism in the form of historical data through documents and historical sources. The Third is interpretation and collection of facts in a variety of relationships Auffassung. Explanation, formulation and presentation of the results which is in German is called darstelling. Fourth, the writing of the history of historiography is a combination of both process operation synthetique and Syinthetiques operation. And the fifth, determining the topic which is Pengguron Syarif Hidayatullah Sunan Gunung Jati. Research Findings: Theoretically expected to contribute significantly to national history and more specifically the cultural history of Islam in Indonesia about the background of the establishment of Pengguron Sunan Gunung Jati, Pengguron Sunan Gunung Jati characteristics, role of Pengguron Sunan Gunung Jati in 15-16 M century, and the position Rama Master and the Orders in Pengguran Sunan Gunung Jati. And the empirical study is expected to serve as a source of historical medieval Islamic culture, the emergence of Pengguron Sunan Gunung Jati education that has the characteristics and role in 15-16 century as well as the source of historiography counties and the city of Cirebon in setting history.
