Abstract

Salmonella is a pathogenic bacteria, which means that the bacteria can cause disease even though in a very small quantity. ISO 6579: 2002 (E) is one of the test methods developed for the Salmonella identification. This test method in outline has four test phases, namely Pre-Enrichment, Selective Enrichment, Plating-Out, and Confirmation. Salmonella testing stages are quite long and complicated so the analyst sometimes has difficulty in determining the test samples which they check whether contaminated by Salmonella can be positive or negative. The objective of this research is to create a decision identification support system of Salmonella bacteria in the milk powder and apply Profile Matching Method into the system. This research uses Profile Matching method. The process of this method are done through identification of the problems, determine the level of problems, and look for the value of the ideal variable that must be found, not the minimum value that must be reached or passed. Thus the system can generate Salmonella test results are valid and accurate. This research has successful to create a decision support system which provide valid and accurate recommendation for Salmonella test. It can be seen that the calculation results of this system is equivalent with the calculations manually. Meanwhile the results of testing the functionality of the system, all respondents agreed that the application is made to function as it should, that is 100% said yes and 0% said no. Based on the results of the interface application testing is 43.8% stated very agree, 48.8% agree, 7.4% neutral, 0% disagree and 0% very disagree.
