Abstract

SA’IDATIN (2015). COLLECTION NEEDS ANALYSIS OF HOSPITALITY STUDENTS IN AMPTA TOURISM ACADEMY YOGYAKARTA This research aims to analyze and explain the collection needs of Hospitality students in AMPTA Tourism Academy Yogyakarta. This research is a survey research with quantitative descriptive approach. The variable in this research is singular and consists of two sub-variables. The population were 439 active students Hospitality Department in academic year 2014/2015. Sampling was based on the formula Slovin and gained as much as 81 respondents. The sampling technique uses accidental sampling. Method of collecting data used observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. While the validity of the test using the Product Moment formula and test reliability using Cronbach Alpha. As for testing the validity and reliability using SPSS 17 for Windows. The scale used is Likert scale with four alternative answers, are very agree (SS) score 4, agree (S) score 3, disagree (TS) score 2 and very disagree (STS) score 1. Further analysis of the data using the mean and the grand mean. Based on the quantitative descriptive analysis, the results of this reserach can be concluded that the overall collection needs of Hospitality students in AMPTA Tourism Academy classified as very high, it is evidenced by the grand mean of 3,31. The grand mean of the whole calculation can be specified that the highest indicator is collection of criteria needs with an average value of 3,34.While the lowest indicator is the need of collections with an average value of 3,29. Based on the results of this research recommended to Library of AMPTA Tourism Academy in order to optimize the collection development, so that the available collections can be complete, current and relevant to the needs of the user.
