Abstract

The stagnance of Holy Book’s texts on one hand and the on going realities on the other has plagued a number of scholars, particularyl religious scholars, to unveil the appropriate meaning of those texts to the current era. In Quranic tradition, this phenomenon comes up with another problematic issue deals with the question of who has the authoritity to give meaning to Quranic texts. Considering Muslim’s belief that Quranic texts are God’s words, it is interesting to shed the light on the fundamental question: is every one credible to give meaning to God’s words? Breaking through the tradition of Quranic translation, Edip Yuksel and his two friends present their valuable work entitled “Quran: A Reformist Translation” as a concreate result of a stunning effort in providing an alternative meanings for Quranic texts. This article will deeply discuss Edip Yuksel’s toughts in his cooperated work “Quran: A Reformist Translation” using hermeneutical perspectives.
