Abstract

This research aims to know: 1) the effect of Project Based Learning model based on integration-interconnection on higher order thinking skills of grade X students in MAN Yogyakarta III on temperature and heat material; 2) the enhancements of higher order thinking skills of grade X students in MAN Yogyakarta III using Project Based Learning model based on integrationinterconnection on temperature and heat material. This is Quasi Experimental Design research with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The variables in this research include independent variables in the form of Project Based Learning model based on integration-interconnection and dependent variables in the form of higher order thinking skills. The population in this research is grade X students in MAN Yogyakarta III academic year 2014/2015. The sampling is done by using simple random sampling technique. Students of MIA 3 are chosen as experimental class and students of MIA 4 are chosen as control class. In this research the data collection using test instrument that consists of a pretest and posttest. The data analysis used is parametric statistic using t test and non parametric statistic using Mann Whitney U test as well as normalized gain (N-gain) and effect size. The result shows that: 1) Project Based Learning model based on integration-interconnection significantly effect to the higher order thinking skills of students on temperature and heat material by value Zscore = 3,178 greater than value Ztable (α = 0,025) = 1,96; 2) the differences enhancement of higher order thinking skills experimental class is very significant compared to the control class by effect size value 0,852.
