Abstract

In the Internet world the term "online" or "techno" is now very familiar. Positive opportunities attractive opportunities scattered in various websites on the Internet. BlackBerry utilization solutions to the business one is for "promotion". For students, the communication used to deliver messages to customers with regard to brand and promote products. They promote their products to achieve sales goals. Communication used, ie marketing communications. Many BlackBerry users who try to use the BlackBerry as a medium for online sales. Researchers want to know how much BlackBerry use as a promotional tool in student circles UII Yogyakarta. This research is a study using qualitative descriptive approach. Source of data obtained through words and actions, written sources and photographs. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. Subjects in this study were students UII Yogyakarta. Informant selection technique used was purposive sampling technique. Mechanical validity of the data using triangulation techniques. Data were analyzed using an interactive model that consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that in implementing the BlackBerry application based social networking media to be used as a media campaign among students UII Yogyakarta, the students have noticed the basic practice of a destination promotion activities, it is the form, inform, persuade and remind. The conclusions of research on social media as a promotional tool among students in doing business online through the application of fuel in Yogyakarta Indonesian Islamic University students are in Group sales promotion Blackberry Messenger greatly affect the business interests of students, because the online business using Blackberry Messenger Group is very potential as seen from the number of student interest in promoting sales in addition to the ease of ordering and seeing how a given product, so sales promotions in online business by using a BlackBerry application is the potential increase sales turnover.
