Abstract

This research is done considering the lack of awareness in social environment to the existence of Pondok Pesantren Al-Luqmaniyyah Yogyakarta. The aims of this research are to identify the plan of public relation’s strategy of Pondok Pesantren Al-Luqmaniyyah in improving the external public awareness, in this case, social environment, and to identify the problems in implementing the strategy. This research uses descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the social environment of Kalangan Umbulharjo Yogyakarta. The subject of this research is LPM (Lembaga Pengabdian Masyarakat) as public relation of Pondok Pesantren Al-Luqmaniyyah. Meanwhile, the object of this research is the plan of public relation strategy of Pondok Pesantren Al-Luqmaniyyah in improving the awareness of social environment in Kalangan, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta. The methods of collecting data of this research are observation, deep interview and documentation. The data analyzing technique which is used in this research are reducing the data, displaying the data, drawing the conclusion and verifying the data. The data validity method used is source triangulation technique by comparing the result of analyzing the data with the result of interview and checking every informants with the data taken from the observation and related documents. Based on the analysis of public relation strategy plan in Pondok Pesantren AL-Luqmaniyyah, it is found three primary programs which are remained in handling the problem of awareness in social environment, they are society’s routine program, incidental program, and program of self-sufficient village. The problem of LPM in running the duty as public relation of Pondok Pesantren Al-Luqmaniyyah is the character of social environment which is dominated by urban society that is individual and busy with their own business. The other problems are financial problem and the lack of public relation expert in Pondok Pesantren Al-Luqmaniyyah.
