Abstract

In the industrial world, we all know that organization was involved within. Achievement of an organization mostly influenced by human resource‟s manners and attitude of that organization. Without good work discipline, than it‟s hard for organization to achieve an optimum result. One of influencing factors of work discipline was personality. In this case, researcher focused on employee‟s personality. The aim of this research was to understand the relationship beetwen dimensions of personality “The Big Five Personality” with work discipline. This research was conducted in production directorate of PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk Cilegon, in which 265 employees respondents. The research use work discipline measurment scale, in which arranged by researcher itself based from Prijodarminto‟s theory, to collect data from respondents. Respondents also completed Golberg‟s International Personality Item Pool that have been translated by researcher. The data which obtained through work discipline scale, and personality scale were analyzed statistic metode with regression analysis. Result of analyzed data obtained correlation coefficient R = 0,747 with p = 0,000 (p < 0,05). As it showed that there was significant correlation beetween dimensions of personality “The Big Five Personality” and work discipline. Dimensions of personality which had significant correlation with work discipline were agreeableness with correlation coefficient R = 0,707 conscientiousness with correlation coefficient R = 0,568, and neuroticism with correlation coefficient R = 0,658 Were as another two dimensions of personality which were extraversion and openness to experince had not indicate the correlation with work discipline.
