Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the correlation between social support and emotional intelligence. The hypothesis of this research is there were positive correlation between social support and emotional intelligence. The subjects in this research are 79 (seventy nine) teachers of Extraordinary School in Yogyakarta. This research used scale of Social Support based on the social support dimention by Sarafino (2011) and scale of Emotional Intelligence created by researcher based on the emotional intelligence dimention by Goleman (2002). Data analysis was performed with statistical technique Product Moment from Pearson, with the help of SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) software. From the analysis data, the result has the values of r = 0,717 and p=0,000 (p<0,001). Thats mean the hypothesis in this research are acceptance. There are very significant between Social Support and Emotinal Intelligence of Extraordinary School teacher in Yogyakarta. The contribution variable of Social Support toward variable Emotional Intelligence in this research was showed by the coefficient of determinant (r2) value of 0,515. Social support contributed effectively 51,5% toward Emotional Intelligence, while the rest of 48,5% are contributed by other factors.
