Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the training auto syiar: the meaning of death with subliminal techniques stand up comedy to decrease death anxiety. Human life is the only one who knows that they are going to die and it is only known through the experience of death. The knowledge that man is doomed to die raises anxiety because death can not be controlled. Therefore, researchers wanted to provide an intervention to the elderly in the form of training auto syiar: the meaning of death with a subliminal techniques of stand up comedy. The sample in this study were mothers pilgrims Musholla Qalbun Salim, Sribitan, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan, Bantul. Subjects in this study were 11 elderly people who are members of the experimental group. This study is a quasi experimental study with one group pre-test post-test design. Data collected by using a questionnaire anxiety of death that has reliability 0,867.Teknik of data analysis used were the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results of the data analysis conducted after the training auto syiar: the meaning of death with a subliminal techniques stand up comedy provided show a significance level of 0.018 (2-tailed) p = 0.018 with a Z score of -2,371. It shows that the training auto syiar: the meaning of death with subliminal techniques stand up comedy effect in reducing anxiety of death in the elderly. Also with the results of follow-up, the result is a significance level of 0.028 (2-tailed) p = 0.028 and Z score of -2,201. It can be concluded that the training auto syiar: the meaning of death with subliminal techniques stand up comedy is effective to reduce the anxiety of death.
