Abstract

This research is purposed to know about the representation nrimo of abdi dalem of the Yogyakarta palace in an occupational domain, meaning of nrimo, factors that have influenced the concept of nrimo and the effect on the daily life. This qualitative research used the phenomenology methode that has descriptive kind. This research was done with the depth-interview, observation, and documentation study as a technique for getting datas. While the technique of data analysis used the coding process that was said Strauss and Corbin. Subjects of this research were seven “abdi dalem” of Yogyakarta palace. The research result showed that subjects did not questioning the salary they earned from their dedication to Yogyakarta palace. Eventhought the subjects did not earn too much salary and still done their duties thoroughly and felt very still contentend and honored to serve in Yogyakarta palace, as it showed the representation of nrimo in subjects. The influencing factors of nrimo in subjects were hope, trust, conscience, capability and responsibility, honor, and spirituality. The meaning of nrimo according to subjects’s thought is accept any given things they got wheter it was material or non-material to degree necessary with no various pretensions. Brevity, the subjects felt grateful of anything they gained. Nrimo thing had impact in subjects way of life such as living sufficiently, discipline, obedient, job satisfaction, fulfilling social life harmony, and grateful feeling.
