Abstract

This study purposes to find out the dynamics and factors influencing the social well-being of family in marginal communities in Yogyakarta. As part of the marginal communities certainly have different beliefs in the process of achieving social welfare, where they live with economic limitations under the poverty line. The subject of this study is three families in marginal communities in Ledhok Timoho, Yogyakarta. The number of subjects in this study are six people, which is three couple husband and wife from three family. The study was conducted using qualitative methods with case study approach and analyzed with the coding concept. Results of study indicated that the three informants have the same beliefs about the social well-being, that the prosperous family is not only rated from the economy, but rather to give priority to social relationships in which awareness and communication could be established with the surrounding environment. Social well-being of three informants were influenced by the same factors in achieving social well-being, those are the Solving problems occurred in the community, The needs of family life are met and fulfilled, and be able to utilize and take the opportunities existed in the community, as well as having the relationship interlaced in harmony with surrounding environment.
