Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know students perceptions about the effectiveness of penalty for late return of books inside policy borrowing and return in the library UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Type of this research is quantitative research that was focused on descriptive analysis. The population of this research are the student who are registered as a member of the library UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta period 2009 to 2015. The samples of this research as many as 394 people, that was choosed incidental sampling method. Analysis of data using arithmetic calculation by a formula mean and the grand mean. The validity test of the instrument using product moment and the reliability test of the instrument using alpha formula. To process the data, ms excel were used as software assistant. The analysis result of the three indicators were achieved that goal achievement is 3,04 in a good category, integration of 3,05 in a good category, and adaptation of 2.98 in a good category. The conclusion is the average of three indicators are calculat using “grand mean” formulas and the results is 3,02 in a good categories. Based on the result of the research, sugestion for library UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is that it should make a strict regulation on the appliance of penalty for late return of book by applying mild,average and heavy punishment in accordance with the written applied regulation on rektor mandate in the year of 2011 about regulation on library. Secondly, library should explain the decision to library users in form of oral and written media,so that all of library regulation can be understood clearly by library users.
