Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of information literacy capability of ordinary members of ALUS Asosiasi Mahasiswa Ilmu Perpustakaan in 2015-2016 period with the approach of Empowering Eight (E8) Model through eight steps, they are identifying, exploring, selecting, organizing, creating, presenting, accessing and applying. On this research, the researcher uses descriptive quantitative method with a single variable of information literacy capability. This research is population research because the population in this research has only 53 respondents and those repondents become the sample. Methods and data collection technique in this research are interviews, questionnaires, observations and documentations. While, the data analysis uses descriptive statistics. From the analysis which is done, it can be seen that the total value of the overall research indicators is 142.46, so that, the result of the analysis can be concluded that overall the level of information literacy capability of ordinary members of ALUS Asosiasi Mahasiswa Ilmu Perpustakaan in 2015-2016 period has a mean of 3.96 which can be interpreted as good category. Then, the overall indicator is divided into eight sub-variables which each sub-variables has a mean which is described as follows, identifying good category with a value of 4.14, exploring good category with a value of 3.86, choosing a good category with a value of 3.87, organizing good category with a value of 3.87, creating a good category with a value of 4.04, presenting a good category with a value of 3.80, accessing to good category with a value of 4.02, and implementing category both with a value of 3.99. From the results of the research above, generally either administrators or other members of ALUS Asosiasi Mahasiswa Ilmu Perpustakaan are expected in the future need to create strategies in presenting information to the other party which are appropriate with daily activities or activities ALUS Asosiasi Mahasiswa Ilmu Perpustakaan mainly in creating and using appropriate equipment to provide information. Besides that, there is a necessary to increase visualization such as charts, graphics or other images to compare information which is obtained from one another.
