Abstract

This study aims to describe about the role of library for the progress of Islamic civilization in Andalusia. In addition, this study also aims to explain the history of the rise of Islamic library in Andalusia and analyze the library contribution to the improvement of Islamic civilization in Andalusia. Methodology research using literature research. Data collection method used through literature review and data analysis using content analysis techniques. The results of this study concluded that the library in Andalusia has an important role in the development of science, it’s also become the center of education, center of research, center of translation and copying of books. Consciousness of humanity and love of science has aroused the desire to establish the library. Besides the contribution of library in Andalusia is to develop the intellectual of muslims who subsequently bequeathed an advanced civilization.
