Abstract

This study aims to describe student responses to the role of the school library in supporting learning activities in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 (MAN) Yogyakarta. The subject of this research was MAN Yogyakarta 1 students with total population of 685 people. Implementing incidental sampling, this study involved 87 students as participants. Meanwhile, the data collection methods used questionnaire with likert scale, nonparticipant observation, and documentation. Drawn upon the data analysis, it is concluded that student had positive response (mean=3,3) to the role of the school library in supporting the learning activities in MAN Yogyakarta 1. Based on the scale interval to get the results of the response of the students to variable function of the library of (3, 38) which is very good, with the outcome of the instructive to (3, 54) which is very good, the result of an informative of (3, 47) which is very good, the result of the recreation of (3, 15) a relatively good, the result of an indicator of a simple research by (3, 38) which is very well. As a result of a variable is the purpose of the library of (3, 17) a relatively good, with the results of the growing interest in reading by (3, 06) a relatively good, the result of the information technology by (3, 26) which is very good, the result of an indicator provide access to information independently of (3, 10) a relatively good, fostering the talents of students at (3, 28) which is very good, and the results of the variables the benefits of the library of (3, 36) which is very good, with the result indicators to accelerate mastery of subject matter of (3, 40) which is very good. the result of an indicator creating a culture of reading for (3,10) which is very good, and the result of the indicators provide a learning experience for (3,60) were classified as very good. Finally, the result of this study suggests MAN Yogyakarta 1 to add its collection to enhance students’ knowledge as well as books which entertain students.
