Abstract
The original art that was born from Salatiga City is Drumblek art.This folk art has developed so rapidly every year. Formerly there was only one group of Drumblek art but now is widespread. The impact led to many Drumblek art groups across the region in Salatiga. As the result there are many competitions to demonstrate their identity, causing conflicts between Drumblek groups around Salatiga area. In this study, the researcher used the theory of group communication to handle the conflicts. The method of this research used descriptive qualitative in-depth interviews. The subject of this research is the chief of the Society Drumblek in Salatiga while the object of this study is the role of the chief of the Drumblek society in Salatiga to handle the conflicts. This study focused on the role of communicator as a chief of the Society of drumblek Salatiga. In this case, the communicator's role in resolving conflicts in a way to unite, willingness to help, dominate, dodge and compromise. Handling the conflicts made the chief as a communicator using one of the five ways to manage the conflicts. The result is that the chief as a communicator using a way to unite in resolving conflicts by uniting all aspects in different ideas into one common goal to finish it with deliberation.
