Abstract

This study aims to describe the benefits of reading, factors that encourage interest in reading, andefforts are being made to develop interest in reading the book Mengembangkan Ruang Baca. This study uses a pragmatic approach.This type of research is the study of literature. Methods of data collection is done by reading and recording and documentation.Source of this research using primary sources, namely data in the form of text in the book Mengembangkan Ruang Baca. Data analysis method used is the analysis of the text. The results of this study concluded that on mengembangkan ruang baca contained a message about the benefits, factors-factors, and efforts to develop the children's interest, namely: (1) The benefits of reading the book Mengembangkan Ruang Baca the reading could spark imagination, reading could develop good intellectual and good character, reading could spare time by utilizing the existing library, reading could adding vocabulary and knowledge, Increasing interest towards something, and could Improving the skills that can be used in the future. (2) Factors that encourage reading interest in the book Mengembangkan Ruang Baca is a high curiosity and thirst for information, had and principled that reading is a spiritual necessity, availability of interesting reading materials, motivation rom the family and social environment, and internal motivation factors such as personal goal. (3) Efforts are being made to develop children's interest in books Mengembangkan Ruang Baca is storytelling before bedtime, role of librarians in the school, giving books as a gift, teacher's role in the the school, founded the library, evaluating, providing free books, make a boat read (Perahu Baca), publish local language books, organize competitions, training for teachers and librarians, the challenge of a million books, giving a small library, using yaks and mules to visit backwood, become a publisher, in cooperation with literary group. From the results of this study are expected to be a solution in developing children's interest .
