Abstract

South beach of Gunugkidul is one of karts area with substrat stone type, sand, coral, rubble and dead coral to support the growth of macroalgae (seaweed). The research was conducted because most of beach in Gunungkidul is one of tourist destinatiom with high visitors and society activities. The condition feared to change the ecological of beach and affecting to diversity, abundance, distribution, species composition, utilizazion and the influence of enviromental factors. The reseach was condusted in Kukup beach, Krakal beach and Sundak beach at October - December 2015 with quadratic plot method (1m x 1m). based on researc result, there are 26 species of macroalgae that consist 7 Chlorophyta species, 13 Rhodophyta species and 6 Phaeophyta species which dispersed clumped and uniform. On the other side, there are 6 macroalga species that dominant and abundant in three location such as; Ulva reticulata, Enteromorpha intestinalis, Acanthopora muscoides, Gelidiella acerosa, Turbinaria ornata, and Turbinaria conoides. Based on the level abundance of the species, Krakal beach has the highest abundance (22.723 individual count/m2), and the most dominant division in three location is Chlorophyta. Based on the result analysis intraction between macroalgae species with enviromental parameters using Canonical correspondence Analysis (CCA) show that those species are devided into 3 groups that are affected by different enviromental factors. Based on the interview with local society, there are 6 species that has utilized food product such as Ulva lactuca, Palmaria palmata, Gigartina stellata, Gelidiella acerosa, Gracilaria sp, and Sargassum sp.
