Abstract

One benchmark used in looking at the quality of human life is the Human Development Index (HDI) measured by the level of quality of education, health and economic (purchasing power). Special Region Yogyakarta is one of the provinces with the highest human development index in Indonesia. The high high index of human development are closely related to the influence of human government policy in public sector spending. This study aims to determine how the effect of government spending in various sectors and the extent of their influence on the human development index in the province of Yogyakarta. The independent variable in this study consisted of government spending in areas (education, health, infrastructure and social assistance). And the dependent variable is the Human Development Index. The research object selected in five counties and cities in the province of Yogyakarta in the period 2008 to 2014. The data used is secondary data from five counties and cities. The analytical tool used in this research is panel data regression. The results of this study are the variables government spending in education is a significant positive effect on the human development index, while government spending on health, infrastructure and social assistance have no effect on the Human Development Index province of Yogyakarta Special Region in that period.
