Abstract

Muhammadiyah Prambanan Orphanage is one of social institution using internet network to support the learning activity for the student who live in it. For example, the student use it for seeking the data, material course, any information that might be useful, and communication via web social network application. But since the rule in that place is forbidding for its student to bring the mobile phone without the permission who is in charge (which is rarely happen) so they use the PC or laptop as the communication device to access web social network application. The internet network that used in that place is the Speedy internet network provided by Telkom. The very often intensity of using the internet network somehow make its internet network unstable. Thus, this research is trying to analyst the quality of network services in web social network application especially Facebook and Instagram. With the basic of quantity research as the way to collect the data for knowing the quality of network services, this research also stressing in monitoring process as well as measurement bandwidth parameter, delay, and packet loss in the network infrastructure which already exists. As the result of this research for two weeks, we can state that the quality of the network services is bad with the highest bandwidth 230748,9 bit/s, average delay 291,5 ms, and the lowest packet loss 24% happened in first week. With that point, we can conclude that the quality of network services in web social network application especially in Facebook and Instagram with TIPHON standardization is categorized as bad.
