Abstract

Shari'a banking is a financial institution that has a unique character than a conventional bank. That unique characteristic of Shari'a bank is having performance measurement in terms of Shari'a. This is because its performances are not only measured by conventional financial aspects, but also in the aspect of maqashid syariah. The type of this research is descriptive analysis research. The aim of this research is to determine the results of comparing the performance of Shari'a banks using the calculation of RGEC and Maqashid Syariah Index. The objects of this research are five Shari'a commercial banks in Indonesia, such as: Bank Syariah Mandiri, Bank Muamalat Indonesia, BRI Syariah, BNI Syariah, and Bank Mega Syariah. The data of this research is a secondary data obtained from the annual report of Shari'a bank in the period of 2011-2015. The results of this research show that the measurement of maqashid syariah performance can be done with Maqashid Syariah Index model approach. The results of this research also show the performance of each Shari'a bank in the comparison diagram as a result of comparison between its performance based on RGEC with the implementation of maqashid syariah which has been done by Shari'a bank.
