Abstract

This research starts from the increasing of operational cost of education, especially in boarding school. Independent economy is needed to support the operational cost of education and quality improvement. Implementation of independent economy in Islamic boarding school is handled directly by its students, in order to increase (life skill) students, as provision later when they have been graduated from their institution. The implementation of independent economy must be managed and developed optimally. The research was conducted with qualitative approach, located in Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Institution. Data collection methods that used are observation, indepth interview and documentation. Data analysis using Miles and Huberman model that is interactive model analysis with steps; data collection; Data reduction, display data and data verification. The research result shows that, independent economic implementation in the development of life skills that impact on the quality of Islamic boarding school. The main function of the student cooperation is as the fulfillment of the daily needs of students and also as life skill education (life skill). The main objective of life skill that should be achieved are general life skill, including: personal skill, rational thinking skill and social skill. Furthermore, the quality of Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Institution has fulfilled 1) graduate competency standard, 2) content standard, 3) process standard, 4) educator standard 5) standard of infrastructure, 6) management standard 7) financing standard, 8) education assessment standard. [INDONESIA] Penelitian ini berawal dari semakin tingginya biaya operasional pendidikan terutama di pondok pesantren. Ekonomi Mandiri diperlukan untuk mendukung biaya operasional pendidikan dan peningkatan mutu. Pelaksanaan ekonomi mandiri di Pondok pesantren ditangani secara langsung oleh santrinya, supaya meningkatkan (life skill) santri, sebagai bekal kelak ketika sudah lulus dari pondok. Penerapan ekonomi mandiri harus di-manage dan dikembangkan secara maksimal. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan lokasi di Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, indepth interview, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Hubermen, yaitu analisis model interaktif dengan langkah-langkah; pengumpulan data; data reduction, data display, dan data verification. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, implementasi ekonomi dalam pengembangan life skill berdampak pada mutu pesantren. Fungsi utama koperasi pelajar sebagai pemenuhan kebutuhan sehari-hari santri dan juga sebagai pendidikan kecakapan hidup (life skill). Sasaran utama kecakapan hidup yang dicapai merupakan kecakapan umum (General Life Skill) meliputi: kecakapan personal, kecakapan berfikir rasional dan kecakapan sosial. Selanjutnya mutu pondok modern Darussalam Gontor telah memenuhi 1) standar kompetensi lulusan, 2) standar isi, 3) standar proses, 4) standar pendidik 5) standar sarana prasarana, 6) standar pengelolaan 7) standar pembiayaan, 8) standar penilaian pendidikan.
