Abstract

This research is an empirical research aims to determine the effect of modern retail business on traditional retail business in Yogyakarta City. The method is used in this research is quantitative research. The variable is used in this research are turnover, business cost, and net income. Data collection techniques for the three variables are questionnaires as well as interviews. Since the population in this study is unknown, therefore the number of samples is searched by using Lemeshow formula and obtained 68 respondents. The sampling technique used is cluster sampling, means each region has its own proportion of the total sample according to the width of the sub district in Yogyakarta City. Testing questionnaire is conducted using Paired T-test. Testing is conducted by comparing the results of questionnaires which describe the condition of each variable on the traditional retail both before and after the presence of modern retail. The result shows that there is no significant difference in traditional retail turnover between before and after modern retail presence. Meanwhile, for business cost and net profit there are significant difference between before and after the modern retail presence. [INDONESIA] Penelitian ini merupakan studi empiris untuk mengetahui pengaruh keberadaan usaha ritel modern terhadap usaha ritel tradisional di Kota Yogyakarta. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Variabel yang digunakan adalah omzet, biaya usaha dan laba bersih. Teknik pengumpulan data untuk ketiga variabel tersebut adalah pengisian kuesioner sekaligus wawancara. Populasi dalam penelitian ini tidak diketahui sehingga jumlah sampel yang digunakan ditentukan dengan menggunakan rumus Lemeshow. Dari rumus tersebut diperoleh jumlah sampel sebanyak 68 responden. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah cluster sampling, jadi setiap wilayah memiliki jumlah proporsi masing-masing dari jumlah keseluruhan sampel menurut luas wilayah kecamatan di Kota Yogyakarta. Pengujian kuesioner dilakukan menggunakan Paired T-Test. Pengujian dilakukan dengan membandingkan hasil pengisian kuesioner yang menggambarkan keadaan setiap variabel pada ritel tradisional baik sebelum maupun setelah adanya ritel modern. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada omzet ritel tradisional antara sebelum dan sesudah adanya ritel modern. Sedangkan untuk biaya usaha dan laba bersih terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah adanya ritel modern.
