Abstract

The Internet become one of the most widely used technologies of man. In addition to providing the need for information, science, news, the internet is also useful as a means or entertainment media for users, such as listening to songs online, watching videos, and playing online games. The development of technology makes online games can be played in smart phones or called mobile online games. Mobile online games are very common in the social life of Indonesian society today, especially the urban community. Clash of clan (COC) is one of the online games that provide communication media in the game by using clan features contained in the game. Clan is a feature where the players online game can build a community in which can be used as a means of communication to interact with each other through the chat within the clan. One of the feature countained in COC’s online game called request, where online game players can help each other. The purpose of this research is to find out how social interactions in virtual communities are intertwined in online game players Clash of Clans (COC) clan Trans Jogja 2. This research used descriptive qualitative methods conducted to four research informants to describe thoroughly by analyzing the phenomenon. The result show that the interaction that is intertwined in the online game COC showed a process of social interaction based on the process of occurrence. Social interaction was intertwined with the disossiatif process that leads to competition, contravertion and conflict. Of course, the members of Trans Jogja 2 make efforts to manage the problems so that they will achieve an associative process with cooperation and accomodation. In the interwoven of social interactions there are features of the virtual community that ensure equality of interests or hobbies, regular interaction, identification or identity, a particular focus on one thing, integration or similarity, the content of the discussion must be the same as the topic in the community, and openness of access to information and commercial orientation.
