Abstract

Marriage is a process that gave the comfortablelity, happiness and satisfaction for each individual who experienced it. But sometimes the marriage gave the various conflicts. One of the most common conflicts is infidelity. Infidelity gives a negative impact for individuals who become a victim such as anger, revenge and disappointed. But there are some individuals who are able to eliminate the negative impact, one way is to forgive the offender. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the process of forgiveness on the victim of infidelity (the husband) who have experienced infidelity. This research uses qualitative method with case study approach. Subjects in this study were two husbands who experienced wife affair and still survive in marriage. The results of this study showed that the process of forgiveness in the husband having affair wife through several phases.The process of forgiveness is through a phase of disclosure and decision phase. Some factors that affect the process of forgiveness are relational comitment and sutisfaction, empathy and perspective taking, lumination and suppresion and apology.
