Abstract

Among the pros and cons that accompany it, polygamy has a negative impact on women and children, especially adolescents in polygamous families. Polygamy in the family becomes an experience that adolescents have that will shape behavior and how individuals perceive themselves, or better known as selfconcept. Individual behavior is determined by self concept that is dynamic and moving in accordance with the factors that influence it. Therefore, this study aims to determine the dynamics of adolescent self-concept on the polygamy of his father. The method used in this research is qualitative with case study approach. By taking samples using purposave sampling method, the subject in this study were two male and female adolescents who came from the polygamy family and were the only children of the first wife. From the data obtained through interview and observation method, the result showed that there is a change in self-concept on both subjects. The first subject has a self-concept that tends tobe positively characterized by the ability of conflict management and acceptance on the polygamy of his father. While the second subject has a self-concept that tends to be negatively characterized by a lack of acceptance and a negative meaning to polygamy of his father. Factors thatn affect the self-concept of both subjects include the role of parents and family, social factor, and father image factor. ( INDONESIA ) Di tengah pro dan kontra yang menyertainya, poligami memberi dampak negatif pada perempuan maupun anak-anak, khususnya anak remaja pada keluarga poligami. Poligami dalam keluarga menjadi sebuah pengalaman yang dimiliki remaja yang akan membentuk perilaku serta bagaimana individu memandang dirinya sendiri, atau yang lebih dikenal dengan konsep diri. Perilaku individu ditentukan oleh konsep diri yang bersifat dinamis dan bergerak sesuai dengan faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dinamika konsep diri anak remaja pada keluarga poligami serta faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhinya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Dengan pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode snowball sampling, subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah dua orang berusia remaja laki-laki dan perempuan yang berasal dari keluarga poligami dan merupakan anak tunggal dari istri pertama. Dari data yang diperoleh melalui metode wawancara dan observasi, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perubahan konsep diri pada kedua subjek. Subjek pertama memiliki konsep diri yang cenderung positif ditandai dengan kemampuan manajemen konflik dan penerimaan pada poligami ayahnya. Sedangkan subjek kedua memiliki konsep diri yang cenderung negatif ditandai dengan kurangnya penerimaan dan pemaknaan yang negatif terhadap poligami ayahnya. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi konsep diri kedua subjek meliputi peran orang tua dan keluarga, faktor sosial dan faktor father image.
