Abstract

This study aims to analyze the positive effect of profit sharing on profit for both parties, i.e., the cooperative as principal and the member as agent-manager and the role of mediation of justice to the profitsharing relationship with the profits for cooperatives and members, either by cooperative group or member group and to show the significance of the differences between the two group models. From the survey, the data are analyzed by partial least squarestructural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using WarpPLS program. Apart from the survey, the data are also collected by observation and interviews. As a result, this study has two findings. The first finding shows that profit sharing improves the benefits for the cooperative group as principal and member group as agent-manager. However, the effect of profit-sharing on profits on group members is greater than that on cooperative groups. The second finding suggests that fairness mediates the profit-sharing relationship with the profitability of the shared effort on the cooperatives group and member group within the raw milk cooperative. In the cooperative group, the effect of mediation occurs fully, whereas in the member group, it occurs partially. This study then uses a theory of agency and a theory of Islamic profit sharing. As a result, this study gives contributions to establishing a model of the accrual and just Islamic profit-loss sharing contract, measuring comprehensive Islamic profit-sharing, developing agency theory by adding new controlling activities to agent behavior, developing a theory of profit sharing ratio by adding some selection tools other than the percentage of profit sharing, and developing the theory of the equilibrium profit and lost sharing contract by adding the execution organizational justice.
