Abstract

Indonesian Higher Education currently has challenges in producing qualified graduates, superior personalities and competitiveness both nationally and internationally. This problem is an important concern for managers of higher education, especially at the level of department or study program. The MPI study program carries out a number of strategies to improve the quality of education, including by implementing strategic planning. This study aims to 1) Analyze the strategic planning preparation process, 2) Analyze strategic planning implementation strategies, 3) Analyze evaluations and their implications for the quality of the MPI study program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study and data collection is done by in-depth interview, observation and documentation techniques. Analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Checking the validity of the data is done by source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of this study indicate that: First, Preparation through 2 stages, namely: a) Analysis of the internal and external environment with SWOT analysis, involving stakeholders, assessing influencing factors, capturing information on current and future conditions of study programs; b) Strategy formulation, carried out by the team, adjusts the conditions of the study program and focuses on the targets to be achieved. Second, implementation techniques in 2 ways, namely: a) Give authority to staff, make program announcements at the beginning of the year, hold a coordination meeting every month, and give assignments according to their fields; b) maximize resources by budgeting the cost of implementing the program, providing training to lecturers, and using existing facilities and infrastructure. Third, a) Internal and external evaluation by evaluating the process and results of lectures, evaluating graduates every year, seeing professionalism of lecturers, evaluating achievements, and monitoring carried out by BAN PT; b) Implications, improving quality with indicators: improving the process and results of lectures, achievements, and fulfilling the means of supporting the learning process such as conducive lecture halls, learning media,
