Abstract

This research focused on the Jogja Window Community. Initially this community was formed in the background to deal with trauma healing after the Merapi earthquake in 2010. It then became a community that played an active role in increasing children's reading interest through literacy and educational games. This study aims to analyze literacy activities and educational games in the Jogja Window community and analyze innovations from literacy activities and educational games in the Jogja Window community. The type of research used is a type of qualitative research. The subjects in this study were volunteers at Komunitas Jendela Yogya which consisted of community leaders, community secretaries, several other volunteers and students studying in the community. The results showed that (1) literacy activities in the community of Jogja Window were carried out before educational games took place, children read 10-15 minutes before the activity began and the forms of literacy activities carried out varied in each implementation. The activity was carried out in the built villages of Bantul and the built villages of Ngemplak, with the reading books used being non-learning books namely novels, comics, and popular knowledge. In each village assisted by literacy activities running smoothly and routinely, the children were enthusiastic in participating in the activities compiled by the generals. Educational games carried out in the Jendela Jogja community are based on children's reading books, so that the knowledge gained can also be applied in the form of educational games. (2) innovations or the results of renewal resulting from literacy activities and educational games in the Jendela Jogja community are increasing children's creativity. The form of children's creativity in each of the assisted villages is to produce crafts and draw. The craft produced in the form of pearl beads bracelets, color cloth on cloth Calico and others. The work of children in the two villages built by the Jogja Window community can be bought and sold by volunteers who aim to add to the collection of books in the library in each of the assisted villages.
