Abstract

This research aims to (1) produce electronic distance measure for visually impaired students in MAN 2 Sleman, (2) find out the quality of electronic distance measure, (3) know the responses of visually impaired students and the implementation of electronic distance measure for visually impaired students in MAN 2 Sleman. This research is a Research and Development (R & D). This development is carried out by referring to the procedural model. This research development procedure is based on a 4-D model which includes 4 main steps, namely (1) Define, (2) Design, (3) Develop, (4) Dissaminate. This research was carried out until the Development stage in the broad test and implementation steps. The research instruments were in the form of validation sheets, assessment sheets, student response sheets, and implementation sheets. Product quality assessment uses a Likert scale with 4 scales made in the form of a checklist. Assessment of response of students using the Guttman scale made in the form of a checklist. Whereas for the implementation using descriptive sheets. Ultrasonic wave reflection based meters are tested to determine the characteristics, sensitivity, ripability, accuracy and precision of the product. The results of this development research is electronic distance measure for visually impaired students in MAN 2 Sleman. This electronic distance measure is accompanied by a manual to use the tool using printed letters and braille. The product quality based on the instrumentation expert's assessment has a very good quality (SB) with a score of 3.63, the assessment of material experts has a very good quality (SB) with a score of 3.43 for the meter and 3.83 for the guidebook, the teacher's assessment has very good quality (SB) with a score of 3.92 for the meter and 3.83 for the guidebook. The response of visually impaired students to products in the test is limited and the extensive test is 0.75 and 0.90, respectively. The overall implementation test was carried out. The quality of electronic distance measure based on the test results obtained an accuracy of 99.98% and precision of 96.69% and has met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).
