Abstract

A high teacher workload is not accompanied by equal incentives, plus the lack of appreciation or recognition of teacher performance by the government can also have an impact on the well-being or happiness felt by teachers. When the teacher is happy, he can penetrate into the soul of a child and always feel positive emotions so that they can have fun learning. This study aims to determine the correlation between positive thinking and gratitude towards happiness in foundation teachers. In this study the subjects involved consisted of 93 foundation teachers. While the data collection was carried out with three measuring instruments consisting of happiness scale, a gratitude scale, and positive thinking scale. The results of this study show that there is a significant positive correlation between positive thinking and gratitude towards happiness in foundation teachers, this is indicated by a regression coefficient of 0.735 with P = 0.001. The higher the gratitude and positive thinking of foundation teachers, the higher the happiness they have. Conversely, the lower the gratitude and positive thinking of foundation teachers, the lower the happiness they have. The results also showed that there was a significant positive correlation between gratitude and happiness in foundation teachers, this was indicated by a regression coefficient of 0.690 with P = 0.000, and there was a significant positive correlation between positive thinking with happiness in foundation teachers, as indicated by the regression coefficient of 0.624 with P = 0.000. These results indicate that all three hypotheses were accepted. The effective contribution of the variable gratitude and positive thinking on happiness is 54%, it can be interpreted that there are 46% the role of other factors on happiness such as self-esteem, hope, trust, life values, and personality.
