Abstract

In this era, learning is not only through formal education at school but learning can be anywhere, anytime and with anyone. Even today social media can be a new media to support learning process. There are many new media has given positive impacts on life, one of which is in increasing interest in learning. Like the virtual community on the DCI facebook group that influences learning interest in the world of videography. On the Facebook group page, members are free to give criticism, suggestions, upload work or even create various events to improve their expertise in videography. This research is a quantitative study with linear regression method to see the effect and correlation test between the two existing variables, namely the use of virtual communities and videography learning interests. The respondents of this study were 70 members of the DCI Facebook group in the region of Yogyakarta. The result of the study showed there is a correlation between virtual communities with interest in learning videography. It means there is a significant influence between virtual communities on interest in learning videography. It can be seen from the results of the simple linear regression test which is indicated by the value of sig.0.00 <0.05.
