Abstract

The background of this research is many teachers of Islam Culture History have difficulties in motivating students to learn because Islam Culture History subjects are considered boring subjects. Researchers conducted research at the Islam Religion College of (STAIYO) Wonosari who had used the Self Regulated Learning model, where students who had the lowest Islam Culture History scores compared to other subjects became motivated to learn Islam Culture History using the Self Regulated Learning learning model. The type of research employ was field study that was qualitative in nature. The subject of research consisted of Lecturer of Islam Culture History course and the 4th semester students of Islam Religion Education Department who have received Islam Culture History course learning. The results of research were as follows. (1) Self Regulated Learning helps students learning and understand the material delivered in the way they specify themselves. Most respondents argued that Self Regulated Learning gives the students an opportunity of developing themselves through the strategy they choose themselves. Self Regulated Learning also gives the students an opportunity of improving their self confidence in the ability they have that is different between one student and another. (2) The result of research showed that during the lecturing process, the students tend to be more enthusiastic and have substantial self confidence to deliver or to share any information they have with other students. The students’ comfort level is varying and affects the lecturing process conducted. When the students are given an opportunity of determining their own learning strategy, they will have high comfort and self confidence psychically in the activity implementation. It is because they feel being trusted as adult learners to determine and to develop the activity they will do in the learning process. (3) Self regulated learning contributed to creating the students’ ability of planning and setting the learning target well. In addition, they have developed some strategies related to the activity they will do, including the ones to deal with the unachieved target.
