Abstract

The background of this research because given the number of schools that the increasing number of schools especially those in the area of Sleman, secondary school amounted to 116 public and private schools, and most secondary schools in Sleman district which is located at Depok subdistrict with the number of 13 schools. and with various advantages and disadvantages of each can have implications on the interest of prospective students,and finally inter-school competition has become very tight. Due to the large number of prospective students or applicants can determine the quality of the school. If the prospective students who register bit, it can lead to views of the community to the school that the school in question is considered less qualified.Reality experienced by SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok Sleman DI Yogyakarta in the last five years statistically, the results of election of new student achievement erratic (volatile) mainly PPDB 2018 were only able to accept 89 students from the quota of 128 students. This study used qualitative research methods. The subject and the object of this study the principal, teachers, and some of the students. In the data collection researchers used the method of observation, documentation and interview. Then analysis of data by reducing data, presenting data that has been collected, and the conclusion. Finally, test the validity of the data by the method of triangulation techniques and source triangulation. The results of this study stated that; 1), the reason why the development of managerial competencies of principals is to increase public confidence, improve the system, improve the quality of education/school. 2), development of managerial competence school principals based on 16 indicators of the managerial competence, managerial competence Based on 16 indicators of the principal SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok Sleman DI Yogyakarta outline already been applied. For example: a) utilization of technology media school management information for the data relating to learners, b) equipment and tool are not being fully fulfilled met because the land is not available, c) management of school relations with the community in the context of finding ideas and learning resources do not yet exist but has been have team the developer . The impact of managerial competence development principals is increasing acceptance of new students based on policies, systems and procedures PPDB run. x Policies PPDB refers to the regulation of District Sleman, the system used the system pick up the ball, one-day service, promotion with social media, held a try out which was attended by 1064 participants, presentations/roadshows to elementary schools, held a contest, safari Ramadan, etc. PPDB procedure has been started in January, held much earlier than previous years.
