Abstract

This research is motivated by a phenomenon that occurs in the field where UMY students do not necessarily understand the basics / arguments underlying students who perform mahdah worship services, as well as students who cannot read the Qur'an. This research aimed to: 1) determine the planning of religiosity development through kegiatan kuliah intensif al-Islam (KIAI) or al-Islam intensive lecture activities at university residence of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, 2) describe the curriculum of KIAI at the research site, 3) determine learning strategies in KIAI at the research site, 4) determine the impact of KIAI on increasing worship for the students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This qualitative-descriptive research used a multidisciplinary approach, i.e., spiritual, and psychological approaches, with collecting data sources by purposive sampling technique. The data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation and then analyzed descriptively. The results of this study show the following: 1) 1) planning of religiosity development through KIAI activities includes three stages, namely the planning stage to condition the readiness of the LPPI institution and form the committee and record students participating in KIAI activities, the implementation stage where the parties carry out KIAI activities and the evaluation process of the results of KIAI activities. 2) KIAI's activity curriculum includes four sustainable things namely first, objective, which means the curriculum objectives of KIAI activities have achieved goals or not, second, content, related to the contents and teaching materials of KIAI activities contained in the KIAI activity guidebook, third, method, according to the method used to implement the plan, fourth, evaluation is related to the success of KIAI activities, KIAI activities greatly foster the level of student faith, for example getting used to obligatory prayer in congregation, tadarus al-Qur'an, and tahajud prayer. 3) learning strategies in al-Islam (KIAI) intensive lecture activities carried out by presenters and facilitators, presenters meeting pedagogical competencies and the results of questionnaire assessments showed excellent results, KIAI 2018/2019 facilitators were good from the previous year. 4) KIAI activities significant impacts on increasing worship for the university students specially the increase in student knowledge related to understanding practical worship. Students who previously did not pray obediently could change to be more diligent to perform prayers by following the KIAI programs.
