Abstract

Education in schools so far only emphasizes the academic aspects and does not develop social, emotional, creativity and motoric aspects. Educational institutions and education personnel should develop self-actualization by optimizing the potential, talents and personalities of students so that they can realize themselves in the community. One of the schools that carries out the development of students' self-actualization is the Islamic Boarding School Ali Maksum Krapyak Yogyakarta. Therefore this study aims to find out how the process of developing self-actualization and its implications for character formation in the Islamic Boarding School Ali Maksum Krapyak Yogyakarta. This research belongs to the field research (Field Resarch) which is qualitative. The subjects of this study are the School Principal, Boarding Chairperson, PAI Teacher, Boarding Supervisor and several students of Ali Maksum Krapyak Yogyakarta Middle School. While data collection uses in-depth interview techniques, documentation and observation. The analysis uses data reduction techniques, data presentation and verification, and data validity. The results of this study indicate the process of developing self-actualization in Ali Maksum Middle School seen in the planning and implementation process. In planning the development of self-actualization aimed at the vision and mission of Ali Maksum Middle School and integrating the school curriculum and pesantren curriculum. In its implementation the development of self-actualization is carried out in several ways, namely 1) through parenting, 2) getting used to the organization and culture of the school. 3) academic and non-academic development includes the activities of the Olympic team, sorogan, tahfiz and muhadarah. 4) accustomed good character and discipline, 5) modeling and motivating students. While the implications of the development of students towards the formation of students in the Ali Maksum Middle Islamic boarding school have had a positive impact on students, including: 1) motivating students to actualize themselves, 2) students no longer need to ask questions, showing good character , increase obedience to ustaznya growing awarenes responsibility in carrying out duties and obligations in boarding schools, and religious awareness 3) The results of the development of the first selfactualization, resulting in various achievements. Second, creating a culture of discipline in carrying out various activities. Third, sending the hufaz, which is the main objective of the Ali Maksum Krapyak Yogyakarta boarding school.
