Abstract

This study aims to (1) Design the formation of light teaching aids on optical devices as physics / science learning media for blind students, (2) Know the quality of light formation visual aids on optical devices as a physics / science learning media for blind students, and (3) Determine the students' response to the light formation visual aids on the optical equipment of the light formation visual aids on braille optical devices as a physics / physics learning medium for blind learners. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research with the development model is a procedural model. The development procedure uses a 4-D model which includes Define, Design, Develop, Dissiminate which is limited to the feasibility test. The research instruments used were validation sheets, assessment sheets, student questionnaire response sheets, and implementation observation sheets. Assessment of the quality of teaching aids and manuals used a Likert scale with a scale of 4 and students' responses used the Guttman scale created in the form of a checklist. The implementation of the product uses a descriptive observation sheet. The results of this research are visual aids for shading the eye, microscopes, binoculars and braille manuals. The quality of teaching aids based on the results of the assessment of material experts, media experts, and physics teachers obtained excellent categorization (SB) with average scores of 4.00, 4.00, and 3.80, respectively. Student responses to teaching aids in limited trials and broad trials obtain the category of agree (S) with a mean score of 1.00 and 1.00. The test results of the implementation of teaching aids are based on observers' observations, namely students can take part in learning activities using teaching aids. Execution test also showed an increase in students' knowledge about the material formation of shadows on optics with an average value of 24.75 and 97.50 respectively.
