Abstract
The paper investigates about the religious and social imaginary about marriage in three cities in Indonesia: Banjarmasin, Mataram and Yogyakarta. This is important because despite of the development in human resources and rapid social changes, child marriage, domestic violence, polygamy and marriage dissolution still occur widely, not to say increases. The research found that access and exposure to higher education and cultural diversity has positive impacts on the social imaginary of marriage, thus result in decreasing the number of child marriage, domestic violence and devorce
