Abstract

The background of this research is the importance of education, especially Islamic Religious Education, because its aim is to form human beings. Islamic Religious Education is required to be taught in all types, lines and levels of education. In achieving these goals, of course it is inseparable from the components of Islamic religious education learning. If all components run optimally, then the goal can also be achieved to the maximum. However, in reality there are still schools that the learning component of Islamic education is still far from the maximum word. One of them is PIRI Sleman Vocational School. VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF PIRI Sleman in forming the character of their students is by making habituation. However, in making these habituations certainly cannot be separated from the problems or problems experienced by the teacher. So that the character of students is not fully formed properly. Coupled with a variety of factors, including students, learning methods, learning media, learning evaluation and so forth. This research is a field research that uses descriptive qualitative research type. The subjects of this study were teachers and students of SMK PIRI Sleman. The data collection method uses interviews, observation, documentation, and triangulation. The objectives of the study are: (1) To find out what are the problems of learning Islamic religious education in shaping the character of students in SMK PIRI Sleman. (2) To find out the solution of the problematic learning of Islamic religious education in forming the character of students in SMK PIRI Sleman. The results of the study that based on the results of interviews, surveys, and observations in the implementation of teaching and learning activities in the Vocational School x PIRI Sleman shows there are problems that can directly or indirectly hamper the process of implementing Islamic religious education in the formation of students' character. Following are the problems of Islamic religious education learning in shaping the character of students namely students, curriculum, educators, media, methods, evaluations, as well as facilities and infrastructure. The steps to overcome the problems of character formation include motivating students, creating a conducive classroom climate, accustoming the practice of Islamic teachings, increasing the professionalism of educators, completing educational facilities, caring for the school environment, developing learning models.
