Abstract

MAPALA is an organization that is increasingly popular with some students and developing in Indonesia. This organization has a complex organizational structure. In MAPALA, each member will get knowledge about how to survive in a wild nature situation than ordinary people through coaching. However, it cannot be denied that in some cases, coaching actually leads to physical violence committed by fellow members and can cause death. This case then tarnished the good reputation of MAPALA in Indonesia. This research uses descriptive qualitative method, the sample technique used was purposive sampling and the theory used was the Communication Style theory. The results of this study were that almost no violence that led to physical actions used by seniors to juniors at WAPALA Exess. Most of people know that MAPALA is an organization that often commits physical violence in fostering its members. But the results of the study found that not all MAPALA members apply those methods. The negative stigma is only an image formed by the media and other rumors so that the capacity is less favored.
