Abstract
This study aims to determine the Role of Interpersonal Communication of Caregivers in the Orphanage of Muhammadiyah Surakarta Orphans in Establishing the Independence of Foster Children. This research was carried out at the orphanage. The findings of researchers during conducting research and observation are the existence of work programs and the role of caregiver interpersonal communication informing the independence of foster children are to provide understanding, counseling, formal education, and guidance in everyday behavior in the orphanage or outside the institution. To carry out a strategy there needs to be a role for all organizational elements within the Muhammadiyah Orphanage environment in Surakarta. The most important role is the role of foster parents themselves. Because caregivers are an element of the organization of the orphanage whose daily life is directly related to foster children. So that the need for supervision, monitoring, improvement, and discipline on the overall activities of foster children to be more organized and can produce a strong character of independence from foster children.
