Abstract

This research is entitled, “Konsep Sufisme dalam Kepustakaan Islam Kejawen (Telaah Atas Pembacaan Prof. Dr. Simuh”- "The Concept of Sufism in the Islamic Literature of Kejawen (Study of Prof. Dr. Simuh's Reading)". Sufism in the Islamic Literature of Kejawen is a treasure of thought which contains teachings about the combination of mystical Javanese mysticism and Sufism. Meanwhile, Kejawen Islamic Literature itself is a naming for various works on Javanese Sufism written in and by the Javanese people, as well as making various Sufism teachings that are distinctively believed by Javanese people. Study of Prof. Dr. Simuh’s reading here means seeing how Simuh's reading of the various works of Islamic kejawen and parsing the main points of his teachings. Simuh himself was a thinker and academic who throughout his life studied intensely about Sufism and Javanese Sufism. Therefore, research on the concept of Sufism in the Kejawen Islamic Literature in the perspective of Simuh becomes very relevant. The object of this research material is the concept of Sufism in Javanese Kejawen literature, while the formal object is the study of Prof. Dr. Simuh. The research method used is literature study. The method used is descriptive analysis. The elements of this method are used to look at the complementary concepts of Javanese Sufism in the Javanese Islamic literature, especially in the reading of Prof. Dr. Simuh. The results of this research: first, the concept of Sufism in Javanese Javanese literature is a Javanese Sufism teaching that contains syncretism between Javanese mystical elements and Islamic Sufism, both of which are united and become treasures of thought and belief that are unique to Javanese people. Second, the main points of Javanese Sufism teachings contained in the Javanese Islamic literature include teachings on anthropocentrism, theocentrism, and teachings on Manunggaling Kawula Gusti or the concept of the union of being between humans and God. Third, some of the weaknesses contained in the Javanese Islamic literature include: many works in this literature that do not appreciate aspects of Islamic law, this starts from the lack of understanding of the authors of the main points of Islamic teachings themselves, so that it gives birth to a misunderstanding and distant of objective value. Furthermore, the writing of works in the Islamic literature of Kejawen is much influenced by the political interests of the rulers. So that many Javanese mystical teachings or Sufism seem to be forced to be in accordance with the interests and wishes the kings of Java.
